New Hyundai Sonata likely to take Indian route

Hyundai Motors, a Korea based leading car-maker, is speculated to launch its all new Sonata model in India in coming months. The new Sonata model has already been launched in company's domestic market, South Korea. It is the sixth-generation Hyundai Sonata model which has Hyundai’s new ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language and provides a powerful performance on road. With this, the new Hyundai Sonata model is claimed to be coming with a segment leading fuel economy. The bookings for this model has already been started in Korean market, where company is aiming to sell about 4.5 lakh units of this cars per annum, worldwide, from 2011.

Although company has plans to launch a new model every year for the next few years, and yet not decided on the Sonata YF. It will make an announcement once and then take a call. Right now, company is exploring Santa Fe’s feasibility, said company's spokesman in a statement to a leading media group. The new Sonata model is powered with a 2-liter Theta II MPi gasoline engine which is able to generate maximum power of 165 ps along with a maximum torque of 20.2 kg-m. Company is claiming that the new Sonata model has the highest fuel economy in this segment at 12.8 kmpl, accounts for an 11 percent increase in mileage as compare to the fuel economy of the existing Sonata model. Moreover, all engines are powered with a new six-speed automatic transmission for heightened performance.
