Nissan India is soon to launch a new sedan that is speculated to have been derived from Nissan Micra. The Nissan Micra's V-platform has been quite popular since the time it was launched, and looking into the response the car has received even before being launched, it is evident that the upcoming sedan would be built on the same platform. Nissan India has big plans of entering the Indian market with a bang and in an effort to strengthen the product line the all new sedan would be based on the powerful V-platform.
The sedan is presently christened as the Affordable Sedan (L02B). Although there are no exact details on the launch date of the car, but it is expected that it would launch by the end of this fiscal year (FY-2010-2011).
The car would be manufactured in both India and Thailand. Nissan Micra and the new, to be launched sedan would be based on a similar platform, but would sport completely different look in terms of appearance. The looks and styling of the car is expected to be brilliantly done as Nissan would want to make an impact in this segment.
Presently the segment of affordable sedans in India is ruled by Tata Indigo Manza, Swift DZire, Hyundai Accent and Mahindra Renault Logan. Nissan's future in the segment would certainly depend on launching the right product at the right time. Mahindra too is going to re-launch its affordable sedan Logan in near future. The segment seems to be another crowded segment after hatchbacks in India.
