Tata Aria, the long awaited multi utility vehicle (MUV) in India, is expected to be launched in the third quarter of this year, the company indicated in a corporate communication to a leading news daily. Tata Motors had displayed the Aria model at the Delhi auto Expo in January, where it attracted a large number of car enthusiasts and visitors.
The Tata Aria comes loaded with a 2.2-liter CRDI engine which is already powering the Safari and Sumo Grande models. With this, the model has a four-wheel drive option with a unique torque on demand system which distributes the drive by sensing requirement on different surfaces. The model is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 12 and 15 lakh rupees.
The Aria model has a basic design of a crossover and it was showcased as the Xover concept in Geneva auto show in 2005. After analyzing the response of buyers in India, the company may plan to launch it in the European markets also. The all new Aria model will be equipped with some unique new generation features like 3D surround sound, in-dash built in GPS, infotainment system, dual air conditioning with automatic climate control and cruise control, multifunctional steering wheel, 6 airbags and ESP.
