New Hyundai Verna to be rolled-out in India by 2011

Hyundai India, which is among the top car makers in the country, is expected to launch a new version of its Verna model by mid 2011. The new Verna model will be showcased at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show in year 2011. The new Verna model has been designed as a small version of Hyundai's Sonata model along with a newly designed bold front grill, rear-view mirrors turn indicators and new sweptback headlights.

The new Verna model will be powered with Hyundai's latest multi-port fuel injection Gamma petrol engines. The model will be available in to engine options including a 1.4-litre, 106bhp, engine (along with a maximum torque of 13.7kgm) and a 1.6 litre 121bhp and (along with a maximum torque of 15.8kgm). It will be launched with an automatic transmission variant also same as the existing Verna model. As the company is going to use ultra-high tensile strength steel in its body, the car will be better in handling, noise and vibration as compare to the existing one.

The model will possibly be launched in both diesel and petrol versions along with all new generation safety features like ABS and Airbags. Meanwhile, the Company is going to start the global production of this model in the second half of this year following the start of the production in Chinese market in July this year. The car will possibly be launched with a competitive price tag in the range of Rs 10 to 14 lakh, where it will compete with popular cars of this segment including Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Laura.
